ABOUT KAY
Kay holds a Master’s Degree in Food Business from UW-Madison, Wisconsin. Kay and her husband Wayne owned and operated an organic dairy farm from 1993 until 2015. In 2005 they opened an on-farm, organic food store where they sold their pastured, organically fed beef, chicken, turkey and other organic food stuffs to health conscious members. With considerable aid from the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, they sued the Wisconsin Department of Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) over their raw milk sales. Kay also served six years as treasurer for Grassworks, Inc., a non-profit organization that promotes managed grazing in Wisconsin. Currently, they have “retired” to Asheville, North Carolina, where they continue to enjoy “not for human consumption” raw milk from local farmers.
